Reading of Eicha, the Book of Lamentations
Eicha?! How could it be? The very beginning of Lamentations, the book read on Tisha B’Av, the 9th of this month of Av, a time of commemoration of the destruction of the First and Second Temples as well as many calamities that befell our people throughout history. And this year we are in the midst of a war, with the threat of escalation and bombardment from Iran to Israel growing each day.
We need to gather together as a community to honor the past and strengthen ourselves through prayer and current writings to face whatever is about to unfold for us as Jews.
Come to the service for the chanting of Lamentations, and an updated sharing of how we are dealing with the current danger to Jews all over the world. This year it is not history — it is a current danger.
And remember that we end on a note of hope and faith in the future!
