Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley Synagogue

About JCSVV

The Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley Synagogue (JCSVV) is a warm and welcoming egalitarian Jewish congregation encompassing a wide range of Jewish denominations. We provide religious worship and education, social and community action, and cultural activities to all individuals within the local area of Northern Arizona known as the Verde Valley and surroundings. We are committed to being a welcoming presence for all who embrace Jewish values.

Our organization was established in 1988 and incorporated in September of 1993. We received our 501c3 status in December of 1994, at a time when Sedona and the Verde Valley were expanding as tourist destinations, from what began as a small town in the middle of a natural treasure of Red Rocks, National and State Forest, and significant archaeological sites of interest.  After years of meeting in churches and other locations, the need was growing to have our own central meeting place, and our synagogue building was constructed by the congregation, and completed in 2004.

We now have a beautiful house of worship for services, meetings and events for Jewish residents of Sedona and the entire Verde Valley. We welcome visitors of all faiths to our Synagogue, positioned in a magnificent, inspiring setting in Red Rock country. We have continued to work to attract those interested in the area, from all traditions of Judaism, and to be a destination for all things associated with Jewish practice. We have sought to provide a synagogue for all who wanted a place to worship, as well as celebrate traditional holidays and life cycle events, whether they came to Sedona from near or far. Our aim is to foster lasting relationships, both within and outside the Jewish community, through lifelong educational programs, commitment to social justice, providing help for vulnerable local populations, and fighting discriminatory practices.

We encourage you to visit our Synagogue, attend our Friday evening Shabbat Services, and participate in any events that are open to the public. We invite you to browse through this website and contact the JCSVV office with any questions.
