- Crossing Delancey is a 1988 American romantic comedy film adapted by Susan Sandler from her play of the same name, and directed by Joan Micklin Silver. It stars Amy Irving and Peter Riegert, featuring Reizl Bozyk, David Hyde-Pierce, Sylvia Miles and Rosemary Harris. Amy Irving was nominated for a Golden Globe for the film, for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.
- The relationship of Izzy (played by Amy Irving) with her grandmother (Bubbie, played by Reizl Bozyk) and the matchmaker (The Matchmaker) bridges the gap between old-world traditions and modern values, showing that traditional wisdom has a valid place in contemporary life. The film contrasts Izzy’s sophisticated, upscale uptown world with Sam Posner (Peter Riegert), a salt-of-the-earth pickle vendor from Delancey Street.
If you have seen this film before, it is definitely worth seeing again!
