We extend warm greetings to you, our members, for the coming 2022-2023 year. We are pleased to announce that we have opened our Synagogue building to Shabbat Services, committee meetings and events. We are moving toward the end of the social isolation we have all experienced due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. We have significantly upgraded the security in our synagogue and can look forward to an enriching year of programming, both online and in person.
Our sense of connection has remained strong and expanded its reach throughout the past year of educational and inspiring online offerings. For those who are unable to attend services and programs in person, they will continue to be available on Zoom, and Facebook Live Shabbat services will remain an option. Our goal is accessibility for all to participate.
Please complete your enclosed Membership Renewal Dues Commitment Form for the 2022-2023 membership year, July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023, as soon as possible, and return it in the enclosed, self-addressed envelope to the JCSVV. Your continued membership will help maintain the mission of having a Jewish presence in Sedona and the Verde Valley. If you wish to upgrade to an Individual or Family Membership, contact the office or go to the website for the membership form.
For the first time in a number of years, a dues increase has been applied. We have experienced additional expenditures, many of which have been applied toward improved benefits for JCSVV members. These include advanced technologies which now ensure that our online programs and services are available to members regardless of the time zone in which you live, with Facebook Live Streaming and YouTube recordings of our presentations. We have also enhanced our physical building with features such as an expanded library, and we have significantly upgraded the security in our synagogue. We hope you will take advantage of these benefits which we are now able to offer our members.
If your financial situation has resulted in a need for a dues adjustment, please contact Milt Small, President at 928.204.1286 or contact the JCSVV Office by email at . All communications are confidential.
If you wish to offer additional funds, please select the Additional Donation box on the Dues Commitment Form and specify your desired contribution. This elevated donation will support synagogue ritual, cultural, educational, and social programming.
We have included information in this packet on funding your membership and other donations using Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD’s). (See reverse side of page for additional information.)
We thank you for your continued support. With gratitude and blessings,
Rabbi Alicia Magal President Milt Small Membership VP Gloria Brown
Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) have been permanently extended. Individuals can donate up to $100,000 per year directly from a traditional or Roth IRA to qualifying charities. This is attractive to some investors because QCDs can be used to satisfy required minimum distributions (RMDs) from an IRA without having the distribution included in their income.
If you are interested in this option you may consult your personal financial planner.
If you would like the name of a local financial advisor, please contact us.
We have included the Membership Dues Commitment Form that corresponds to your current level of membership – that is, Family, Individual or Associate. If you would like to upgrade your membership from Associate to Individual or Family, please contact us or go to our website for the appropriate membership form.
The Dues Commitment Form includes several payment options for your membership dues. If you have any questions about these options, please contact the office.
Memorial Dates for Loved Ones
We maintain a database of Yahrzeits of your loved ones. Our office sends letters to notify you annually at the time of these Yahrzeits, and Rabbi Magal reads their names at Shabbat Services. If you would like to receive these notices from our office, or update your Yahrzeit records, please contact us at . The form is also on our website, under the DONATE tab: https://www.jcsvv.org/donate/ways-to-give/.
To honor the memory of your loved one, you can order a plaque to be placed on our beautiful Memorial Wall in the JCSVV sanctuary. The plaque will be lit during the week of the Yahrzeit. The form for ordering a plaque is on our website under the DONATE tab: https://www.jcsvv.org/donate/memorial-wall-plaques/ or you may contact the office for more information.
