DESCRIPTION:Tu B’Shevat – New Year of the Trees\nPlease join Rabbi Alicia Magal\,  Joe Berger\, V.P. of the JCSVV Religious Affairs Committee\, and Jeff Silverman\, guest speaker from the Jewish National Fund\n \nSunday\, February 1\, 2026\n12:00 – 2:00  pm (MST)\nIn the JCSVV Synagogue Parking Lot\nHelp us to celebrate the New Year of the Trees with a planting and tour of the trees on our synagogue grounds. \nOn Sunday\, February 1st at noon\, we will meet in the parking lot to celebrate Tu B’Shevat\, the New Year of the Trees. The 15th of Shevat on the Jewish calendar is the day that marks the beginning of a “new year” for trees. This day marks the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel\nemerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle. Joe Berger will give talk about trees and walk us around the grounds of our synagogue to point out the trees and other plants that we have planted over the years. \nAfter Joe’s presentation outside we will go inside to the Social Hall for a presentation by Jeff Silverman\, Associate Director of the Jewish National Fund\, an organization which includes planting trees in Israel as part of its mission. \nAfterwards\, join us for snacks made by our members from recipes that include ingredients from trees. Many foods come from trees\, not just dates\, apricots\, apples and nuts but also olives\, avocados\, bananas and even chocolate. If you can make a snack of “food from trees” to share\, please contact\nMichelle Wolfenbarger and let her know what you will bring. \nCome\, bring a friend\, enjoy community!

During these early years\, Moshe performed with Shlomo Mintz and was a featured guest artist on Israeli TV at the age of eleven. In 1973\, he participated in a seminar under the guidance of Isaac Stern\, Pablo Casals\, and Alexander Schnider. In 1976\, Moshe came to the U.S.A. and studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi of the Vermeer Quartet. He received his Master’s degree in Violin Performance from Northern Illinois University\, and studied with Raphael Bronstein and Dorothy Delay. Mr. Bukshpan performed in the Aspen and Colorado Music Festivals. \nVITALY SEREBRIAKOV\, Piano Described as “a thoughtful artist with a firm technique\, a gorgeous tone\, and a sensitive touch” (Fanfare Magazine)\, Vitaly Serebriakov is a critically acclaimed pianist\, teaching artist\, and recording engineer based in Phoenix\, Arizona. Steinway Artist Robert Hamilton recognizes Mr. Serebriakov as “an outstanding\, professional pianist whose comprehensive performances blend intelligent stylistic understanding with emotional depth and strong technical prowess”.
